Thought I would send you a picture of what we did with the english paper pieceing templates I ordered from you. A group of us ladies and one young man tried, for the first time ever, to do some english paper piecing! Probably got about 3 of us hooked on it! What fun!

This quilt is based on an 1840s era quilt in the Shelburne Museum in Vermont. I have reproduced the central part of that quilt, and am finishing it off with a facing technique. It is now quilted with a Colonial knot on each petal.

Thanks for your templates! this quilt took 3-1/2 years to complete and there are almost 3000 pieces in it. I alread have design ideas for the next batch of 1/4 inchers!

Cheers!

Cathy

Flower Vase With 1293 Half Inch Hexagons By Jan H.

I started this as a travel project with my bag of scraps, 1/2 inch hexagon paper pieces, and a 2 inch picture to copy. It worked great until it grew and I needed to fussy cut from my stash. I used painters tape on my sewing table to keep it to the correct size. It ended up 36 inches by 24 inches. and 1,293 pieces.

I debated finishing by quilting or framing. Then glass or uncovered. Framed glass won!

Would I do it again? Of course! I plan to, but a little smaller. I loved the planning and fabric manipulation of some 100 fabrics.

Thanks for your pieces,

Jan H.

Finally got some pictures of a couple of my quilts (your patterns)... I made them all larger then the original pattern called for. The Sarah's Star is my second because the first one I made, was given away as a baby gift.

First, 8 point diamonds and squares

Second, Sarah's Star

Third, Yesterday's Star

Fourth, Octagons & 8 Petal Chrysanthemums

Fifth, Lorrain's Octagons & Squares

Sixth, Flying Swallows

Well it took me almost a year, but I finally finished my pinwheel lap quilt. I used your pinwheel pattern and expanded it until I used up the fabrics I had chosen. It ended up being 7 emblems wide by 11 long. My next paper piecing project will use apple cores. I'm a little nervous about the curves, so wish me luck!

I love sharing for show and tell :) and noticed on the website you have requested pictures of our creations. Sharing is almost as much fun as creating in the first place!
